Healthmark offers a comprehensive and growing line of pre-filled syringes that meet Hospital and HomeCare requirements for cost-effectiveness, safety and unit of use. Pre-filled syringes are available in a variety of drugs, sizes and formats to meet customer needs.

Below is an overview of the pre-filled syringe products followed by a detailed product information section.

0.9% Sodium Chloride

Healthmark offers two brands of pre-filled saline flush syringes to meet customer demand. All Healthmark saline flush pre-filled syringes are preservative and latex free.

MedXL is our Canadian manufactured added value product in sterile peel pouch format for use anywhere in the Hospital including sterile field application. An added benefit is Health Canada approval indication for Dilution and Reconstitution.

Available in 3, 5, 10ml and a unique 20ml size for specialty use in Oncology and Dialysis and in preattached needleless cannula format.

Syrex is our standard brand option - sterile fluid and fluid path (for IV flushing only) in 2.5, 5 and 10ml sizes.

Sterile Water

Healthmark is the only supplier of a pre-filled sterile water syringe (10ml in 10ml size) approved for drug reconstitution.

Heparin

Pre-filled heparin syringes are available in various strengths and fill volumes to meet customer needs. Additional sizes and formats will be added in the coming months.

Sodium citrate 4%

Specialty product offering for flushing Dialysis catheters.

Contract Manufacture

Healthmark offers contract manufacturing of pre-filled syringes (eg. heparin strengths/sizes that meet unique Hospital applications). This is accomplished through our manufacturing partner MedXL. The Hospital sends us bulk drug for production into unit of use pre-filled syringes. The product is prepared under commercially accepted GMP and ISO conditions including procedures for sterility and endotoxin testing on a per batch basis. Healthmark returns the individually packaged pre-filled syringes to the customer. Benefits include cost-savings, Nursing time-savings, unit of use safety and ease of use.

CITRALOK™ SODIUM CITRATE (4%)

Ready to use sodium citrate 4% pre-filled syringe for flushing Dialysis catheters. Packaged in a peel pouch format. Choice of 5ml in 5ml fill volume to cap both venous return and arterial ports of catheter lumens or twinpack of two units of 2.5ml in 5ml syringes in order to flush each line with a separate syringe. This alternative change in practice has been predicated on clinical benefits and significant cost savings.

Recent clinical studies have shown that the use of sodium citrate(4%)USP to lock indwelling catheters in hemodialysis patients may have significant advantages:
1. Avoids risk of systemic heparinization.
2. Local anticoagulation prevents exacerbation of active bleeding.
3. Safe in patients with suspected or confirmed Heparin Induced Thrombocytopenia (HIT).
4. Potentially lower rt-PA (Alteplase) utilization rate and cost.
5. Improved INR reliability (international normalized ratio).
6. Up to 50% savings as compared to a heparin lock regimen.
7. Aseptic product manufactured under GMP pharmaceutical standards.
